Helping Wings pilot scholarships

Flying training with the Jersey Aero Club worth £5,000 for a person with a lower limb disablility is available for the second year thanks to sponsorship from the Sir James Knott Trust.

And flying training worth £2,000 with the club for a local disabled or disadvantaged person is available thanks to a bursary from Ports of Jersey.

Eveline Hawkin, the chairwoman of helping Wings, said that around the world, many disabled people had discovered that the freedom associated with being able to fly an aircraft was within their reach.

The scholarship from the Sir James Knott Trust will cover about 28 hours – subject to fuel costs – out of the 45 required to obtain the full (European) Private Pilot’s licence.
