Fire crew delayed getting to scene by parked vehicles

The service says they were delayed getting to the scene by cars parked on nearby roads.

The owner tried to tackle the blaze using three extinguishers and when this failed he pushed the car away from nearby vehicles. Firefighters then arrived at the site and quickly extinguished the blaze.

In a statement, the Fire and Rescue Service said: ‘The delay caused by vehicles parked on the road had little influence on the result of this incident, however had it been a more critical event the delay may have had serious consequences.

‘Jersey Fire and Rescue would like to urge members of the public to consider the access of all emergency vehicles when parking their cars, especially on Jersey’s narrow roads.’
