Jersey targeted with new ‘phishing’ scam

Instances of phishing – attempting to obtain sensitive information, such as usernames, passwords or credit card details by fraudulent means – have increased in recent years.

And the States police say that in the past few days, a number of NatWest and Barclays bank customers in the Island have reported receiving the scam phishing text, which claims to be sent from the fraud prevention team of the phone owner’s bank.

Detective Constable Chris Ingham, the States police’s crime reduction officer, said this particular scam was especially devious.
