Police protect 80 facing threats of death or harm

Potential victims have been removed from their homes and armed police patrols put on stand-by as part of the force’s measures.

Detective Inspector Craig Jackson, head of the States police’s Force Intelligence Bureau, said information about threats against Islanders came from various sources and only when enough ‘real, actual and credible’ intelligence is gathered is a warning issued.

Statistics, released to the JEP following a freedom of information request, show 80 personal safety warnings, which include so-called Osman warnings or threats to kill, have been issued between 2011 and 2016.
