Names of finalists revealed for Island’s Heart Awards

The awards, launched by the Jersey branch of the British Heart Foundation, were formed in an effort to champion Islanders who make extraordinary efforts to help fight heart disease. A panel of judges have decided the finalists for all seven categories and the winners of each category are due to be announced at the Pomme d’Or Hotel on Saturday 4 March.

Jayden Corley (11) is one of two finalists in the Young Heart Hero award category. Jayden was born with Tetralogy of Fallot, a heart defect which means that his blood does not carry enough oxygen. Last year he took part in a 3-km run to raise money for the foundation and raised £1,300.

James Harrison, Linda Gully and Danny Smith are all finalists in the Local Life Saver award. Mr Harrison has been nominated for saving his partner’s life, Sam, who collapsed in their home. Mr Harrison performed CPR on his partner after she suffered a cardiac arrest.

Tickets for the awards event can be purchased through the BHF Jersey website, bhfjersey.com/heartawards.
