A close shave as eye of storm misses the Island

But when the much-feared storm finally arrived yesterday it brought nothing more than a few hours of strong winds and several bursts of heavy rain.

And although it was expected to be named by the UK Met Office as Storm Doris, it simply wasn’t powerful enough, and passed off into the North Sea as the storm with no name.

The strong winds did, however, generate some impressive waves – and created perfect conditions for surfers in St Ouen’s Bay.

During the week Jersey Met forecasters said there was much uncertainty over the exact track the storm would take and its potential wind speed.
