Jersey close to becoming independent surfing nation

Under the proposals, surfers from both Jersey and Guernsey would be entitled to enter events held by the International Surfing Association in all of the sport’s disciplines at beaches around the world. Currently, Islanders would have to compete for Britain in such events.

David Ferguson, the president of the CISF, met ISA chief executive Bob Fasulo and membership secretary Alex Reynolds at the organisation’s headquarters in La Jolla, California, this week.

Mr Ferguson said that recognition by the ISA would be a historic moment for the sport in the Channel Islands.
