Yesterday they renewed their appeal to locate the driver, as they believe he may have been hurt after the white Suzuki van careered into two other cars and a granite wall.
It also emerged yesterday that following the crash, the male driver was chased by a member of the public toward Le Marais Farm as he fled the scene.
The crash, which took place at about 7.30 am on Sunday, led to St Peter’s Valley being closed in both directions as emergency crews cleared debris from the road.
The police say that while they do not know the extent of any injuries the driver may have suffered, the level of damage to the van would suggest that the man could be hurt.
