Islanders light memorial candles for Clinton

Clinton Pringle was left seriously injured after being struck by a Volkswagen Transporter van as he crossed Tunnell Street on 27 June. He died in hospital in the UK three days later.

The parade in his memory, which was attended by St Helier Constable Simon Crowcroft, left from the west side of the park at 6 pm and headed towards Tunnell Street. Participants lit candles and said prayers in memory of the youngster, who was holidaying in the Island from Scotland when he was killed. The song Following The Leader from Disney movie Peter Pan was also played, as requested by Clinton’s parents.

A statement from Clinton’s father, Michael, said: ‘Your cheeky smile filled my heart with joy, your words made me laugh and your hugs gave me the warmest feelings. I still hear your voice every day, but it is only an echo of memories with you.’
