Public opinion sought on student funding

The Education and Home Affairs Scrutiny Panel are reviewing the issue and have arranged a public hearing with Treasury Minister Alan Maclean on Monday at 10 am and another with Education Minister Rod Bryans on 13 January at 11 am.

Both events will be held in the Blampied Room of the States Building.

The panel are also inviting the public to attend two workshops at St Paul’s Centre, one for students who have found it impossible to continue studying because of their financial situation, on 4 January at 7 pm, and another for the families of current and future students on 12 January at 7 pm.

Jeremy Maçon, chairman of the Education and Home Affairs Scrutiny Panel, said that he had heard from many families who are having serious problems affording university education for their children.
