Terrorism conference

Scores of people attended the event at the Hotel de Normandie to run through table-top exercises which aimed to provide advice on how to prevent, handle and recover from a terrorist attack

Counter terrorism security advisors travelled from the UK to host the event on Thursday, together with senior States police officers and other emergency services staff. The event was part of a UK-wide anti-terror project codenamed Project Argus.

Inspector Andy Bisson, head of the States police counter-terrorism unit, said although a terrorist incident in Jersey remained highly unlikely, measures had to be taken to ensure the Island is prepared.

‘The event covered what people can expect during an incident and how they can help deal with it and what we would expect from them in a scenario,’ he said.

Insp Bisson added that further events, which are free to attend, are planned for the new year.
