Easter Rising relic returns

A century ago, in April 2016, Jersey soldier Bugler John Le Prévost helped to suppress Ireland’s bid for freedom from British rule.

As a memento of surviving the fierce fighting, he tore a strip from a nationalist flag which has been handed down through his family.

Now his grandson, David Blake, is entrusting the faded fabric to the Glasnevin Cemetery and Museum in recognition of all those who fought on both sides.

Chief Minister Ian Gorst and Assistant Chief Minister Paul Routier are accompanying Mr Blake on his historic trip.
