Public urged to report drink-drivers to police

Today the States and honorary forces began a series of road checks in an effort to catch those over the limit during the festive period.

Last Christmas, five of the nine people arrested for drink-driving during the campaign were stopped because of information from the public.

Acting Inspector Paul Smith, who is leading the initiative, said: ‘It is simply not possible to say how much alcohol you can drink and stay below the limit.

‘So if you are driving, it is better to have none for the road.’
