The patience of Pauline

In fact, the beginning of December would have probably passed with little fanfare in the Graham household had it not been for a small event at Windsor Castle – when Mrs Pauline Graham officially became Mrs Pauline Graham MBE.

A mum of two grown-up children, Pauline’s extended family is much larger, because with her husband Phil’s support, she has been a surrogate mother to no fewer than 90 of the Island’s children over the past 24 years. And it is for her services to the Island’s children as a foster parent that she was made a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.

Before becoming a foster parent in 1992, Pauline, who grew up in St Clement and now lives in St Saviour, had worked full-time as a child minder.
