Explanation is sought for private jet decision

Deputy Andrew Lewis, the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, has raised concerns after it emerged that thousands of pounds of taxpayers’ money was used to pay for Estonian Ambassador Lauri Bambus and three colleagues to leave the Island after their British Airways flight was cancelled.

The decision – authorised by Assistant Chief Minister Philip Ozouf – has been supported by Chief Minister Ian Gorst and External Relations Minister Philip Bailhache, both of whom have said it is important for Jersey to forge strong links with Estonia, which is a leading digital jurisdiction and due to take over the rotating EU presidency in 2017.
