Hundreds join walk to call for Mr Bronx to be freed

Mr Bronx, who has been kept in kennels at the JSPCA for almost ten months, was seized by Customs officers in February after they suspected that he might be a pitbull. His owners were pulled over at the Harbour as they arrived back in the Island having taken the dog away with them on holiday.

He had been in the Island since he was seven and a half weeks old without issue.

Earlier this month the Petty Debts Court deemed Mr Bronx to be a pitbull terrier-type dog, which are illegal to import into the Island, leaving him with an uncertain future.

The authorities will now decide whether to give Mr Bronx’s owners a licence so that they can keep the dog, or whether to order that it be destroyed.
