Fort Regent rejuvenation to be thrown open to investors

However, Constable Steve Pallett, who leads the Fort Regent Steering Group, has warned that it is ‘highly unlikely’ there will be public funds for the project in the next States spending plans.

This week the Constable, who has political responsibility for sport, said that the facility had gone past the ‘sticking plaster’ stage and needed a ‘life-saving operation’. He met Tamba Park entrepreneur Jonathan Ruff to discuss the future of the ageing and underused site after the businessman had said that he would like to revitalise the leisure centre.

Following the meeting Mr Ruff added that he could put in place an interim plan to increase visitor numbers and income for the Fort, pending a longer-term solution being put in place.
