Dog trainer wants to save Mr Bronx

Victoria Stilwell said Mr Bronx ‘is in danger of losing his life solely because of his appearance’ after the Petty Debts Court deemed him to be a pitbull terrier type – which it is illegal to import into the Island.

Customs officers and Home Affairs Minister Kristina Moore will now decide the dog’s future and could ultimately grant the family a licence or order the pet to be destroyed.

A petition has also started online calling for Deputy Moore to save Mr Bronx, who has been held in kennels at the Animals Shelter for nearly ten months, and ‘secure him the happy life that he so deserves’. The petition has received more than 1,400 signatures in just over 24 hours.

A beach walk for Mr Bronx is also being organised. Organisers are inviting pet-owners to a walk from Green Island to the Dicq Shack and back on Sunday from 12.30 pm to 3 pm to ‘raise awareness of Mr Bronx’s plight’.
