Jersey’s brightest ready to take on best in Guernsey

The Jersey heats of the challenge took place at the Radisson Blu Hotel this week and saw teams from Island schools compete against each other in three different age groups, Year 6, Year 8 and post-16.

And the winners from Jersey and Guernsey will now face off next week in Guernsey to be crowned Channel Island champions.

A record 19 primary schools took part in the Year 6 challenge with the De La Salle team of Christopher McGinty, Akio Salem, Adam Bradbury and Toby Britton emerging victorious following a final that also involved La Moye, Victoria College Prep and Plat Douet schools. They will now face Guernsey’s Castel Primary.

In the Year 8 challenge, Ruby Clarke, Lily Buckley and Nikita Handel from Jersey College for Girls beat a team from Le Rocquier and will face Elizabeth College in Guernsey next week.

And Hautlieu claimed their place in the post-16 final and will take on two Guernsey teams – Elizabeth College and the Ladies’ College. The Hautlieu team of Kyleigh Melville, Joe Harvey and Luke Davis beat Victoria College in the Jersey final.

The three finals will be held at the Old Government House Hotel in Guernsey on Thursday between 11 am and 2 pm.
