Disability jobs charity chosen to run new recycling centre

The Jersey Employment Trust says that it hopes to create more than 20 jobs for its clients after it was awarded the contract to manage the facility at La Collette by the Infrastructure Department.

It is hoped that the site, which has been designed to encourage Islanders to prioritise reusing objects so that only goods which have reached the end of their useful life are taken for recycling, will open in January.

The public will be able to drop off items in a reusable condition at the centre before these are transferred by JET to its Trinity depot where they will be processed and put on sale.

Until the new household reuse and recycling centre opens at La Collette the existing household recycling centre at Gate 4 Bellozanne will remain open.
