New hospital: Move to defy Health Minister

St John Constable Chris Taylor said that minsters were asking Members to rubber stamp their plan without providing sufficient information.

The move, which echoes calls from many Islanders for the site to be reconsidered, has cost him his seat on the Scrutiny sub-panel examining issues related to the hospital project.

Mr Taylor’s amendment to Health Minister Andrew Green’s proposition to build a new £463 million hospital on the current site proposes adding land at the Waterfront into the hospital debate. It states that the site would be ‘cheaper than the current site, can be completed more quickly (by two years) and performs better than the current site in terms of “weighted benefits ranking” and “weighted risks ranking”‘.
