Care homes close due to norovirus outbreak

Five premises have temporarily closed in recent weeks following the outbreak. Three have since reopened.

It is understood that two of the premises are Lakeside Manor Care Home in St Peter and St Ewold’s Residential Home in St Helier.

Symptoms of norovirus include diarrhoea, abdominal cramps and vomiting and will usually last for no longer than 72 hours.

Those who have been affected by the outbreak, which has resulted in isolated cases in the Hospital, are being urged to stay in their home until they are symptom-free.

Those who are concerned about their symptoms should contact their GP for advice.
