Deportation move for man in ‘sustained attack’

The defendant was jailed in August for two years and five months following a vicious attack on a man he chased through St Helier after drinking three bottles of whisky.

The court heard at the time that when he caught up with his victim, he threw him onto the bonnet of a car and repeatedly punched, kicked and kneed him, leaving him with 24 separate injuries, many of which were to the face.

At the earlier hearing, the prosecution recommended that accused, who has lived in Jersey since he was 15, be deported, but the decision was adjourned until a report on the impact on his family could be carried out.
