The road was closed for a week during the October half-term school holiday while specialists carried out the repairs following an inspection earlier in the year.
More work could be carried out next year, the department has confirmed.
A spokeswoman for the department said: ‘A member of the public alerted us to the issues and inspection work was done before specialists in rock stabilisation completed the repairs.’
