Motorists are likely to see more volunteer patrols over the coming months in areas such as Victoria Avenue, the Inner Road, Queen’s Road, Vallée des Vaux and Mont à l’Abbé.
Meanwhile St Helier parishioners are due to be consulted next month on plans to turn every street inside the so-called ring road into a 20-mph zone.
Speaking to the JEP, Centenier Danny Scaife said moves to train more officers in the use of speed guns were about increasing the force’s visible presence and getting more volunteers on the ground carrying out checks.
