Woman ‘feared for her life’ in assault in St Helier park

The attacker of no fixed address, narrowly avoided being sent to jail when she appeared for sentencing.

She pleaded guilty to a charge of grave and criminal assault for the attack at 8.30 pm on 27 August.

The court heard from police legal adviser Advocate Darry Robinson that the incident began when the victim was walking through Parade Gardens and the defendant shouted: ‘What the f*** are you looking at?’

He said that the victim turned round and said something like: ‘I haven’t said anything,’ and that she then felt two hands on her and was pushed from the side onto the grass.
