Man took someone else’s car after party

The 28-year-old electrician, of Georgetown Road, took the white van from a property next to the place where he had been attending the party.

Shortly afterwards he was spotted by police driving without lights at about 12.10 am on 10 July in Longueville Road.

Centenier Mary O’Keefe-Burgher told the court that when police used their flashing lights to get the vehicle to stop, it drove away.

And when he did eventually stop in Snow Hill car park, instead of giving himself up, he ran off in the direction of Mulcaster Street.
