Jersey ‘worth £4.5 bn to the UK economy’

The Jersey’s Value to Britain report, which updates a study carried out in 2013, states that the Island supports almost 250,000 jobs in the UK by acting as a channel for the investment of money.

Its release comes as senior members of the Island’s government, including Chief Minister Ian Gorst and Senators Philip Bailhache and Philip Ozouf, are working to build relationships in Westminster to ensure that Jersey’s voice is heard in negotiations post-Brexit.

That task is all the more vital, with Prime Minister Theresa May talking tough about targeting tax avoidance and off-shore finance centres as she tries to reclaim the middle ground of UK politics.
