Figures released by the States Statistics Unit revealed that if the current level of 1,500 more people coming to live in Jersey than leaving continues, the Island’s population will increase by 40 per cent over the next two decades.

The forecasts predict that, in line with current trends, the Island’s population will be more than 140,000 by 2035, compared with its current level of 103,000 people. Last year net migration to the Island was 1,500 people compared with the forecast of 325.
