Honoraries ‘can help States police with serial offenders’

Ian Le Sueur made the comments following a visit to the UK to observe volunteer special constables and said that the paid and volunteer services could work more closely together.

Mr Le Sueur, who has spent four years in the St Brelade force, said that the honorary police often had better knowledge of offenders than their States counterparts.

Mr Le Sueur also added that honorary forces needed to engage with the wider public more and that he had set up a Twitter account on behalf of the service.
