New plans for 247 homes by town park

The scheme follows a successful appeal by neighbours against an earlier version of the project, and proposes the demolition of buildings along Tunnell Street and St Saviour’s Road, the removal of Jersey Gas’s disused gasometer, the company’s showroom, staff accommodation and an administration building as well as other gasworks structures.

The latest plans have been put forward by Brookfield Asset Management, which retained the site when it sold Jersey Gas earlier this year.

If the outline plans are approved, developers would build 247 flats – a mixture of mainly one- and two-bedroom units with a small number of three-bedroom apartments – as well as six town houses and two commercial units on the land. The proposals also include 179 parking spaces for residents and 30 public spaces.
