‘Jersey Infrastructure Levy’ moves step closer to reality

Environment Minister Steve Luce has appointed consultants to look at setting up a ‘Jersey Infrastructure Levy’ that would see developers providing a financial contribution to a centralised fund reserved for the benefit of the community.

Over the next few months Arup, a firm of designers, planners and engineers, will be carrying out a feasibility study to see how the new policy could work before developers and builders are consulted.

Deputy Luce said that the broad idea was to have a clear set of instructions that showed what contributions were required depending on the number and location of new buildings in the Island.
