‘Let horses and dogs onto quiet beaches’

Robert Jones, says that laws which make it illegal to allow a dog to run off its lead or ride a horse on beaches during the summer months from 10.30 am until 6 pm, should be relaxed next summer.

Mr Jones, a director of Jersey Pottery, says that he has been in touch with Economic Development Minister Lyndon Farnham – whose department is responsible for the policing of beaches due to its interests in tourism – to raise the idea of a trial.

Mr Jones said: ‘I think the law is outdated. Some beaches could be used for exercising dogs and horses. I think a lot of people would like that.
