Recruitment crisis looms after teachers’ pay vote

Teaching unions have reacted angrily to the news that the States is to press ahead with its plans to carry out a thorough review of the wages of newly qualified teachers, cuts to which they say will mean the Island will struggle to attract top quality teaching staff.

And campaigners have once again called for the controversial scrapping of the 20 free hours of nursery care for all, regardless of parental income, to be shelved and savings found elsewhere.
