Chase across park ends in man’s arrest

The Magistrate’s Court heard that the 43-year-old committed the offence when a police officer went to Parade Gardens on Sunday afternoon to find him, as he was subject to a Viscount’s arrest order.

Centenier David Webber said that the officer found the defendant by a bench at the Elizabeth Place end of the park and spoke to him.

When it was clear that the officer was going to arrest him, the defendant ran away towards the play area. The officer caught him up and managed to get him to the ground to make the arrest, the court heard.
