CICRA demands proof airlines deal is working

Since the start of the franchise six months ago, passengers have been critical of the service provided following a number of delays and cancellations, particularly on the Jersey to Guernsey route.

Now the Channel Islands Competition and Regulatory Authority has written an open letter to the heads of each company questioning the benefits of the agreement which sees the airlines working together rather than in competition.

CICRA chairman Michael O’Higgins points to the four objectives the companies set out when their franchise partnership was announced and asked them whether they are delivering on the proposed benefits.

The letter, addressed to Flybe chief executive Saad Hammad and Blue Islands chairman Derek Coates, challenges the companies to prove their commitment to the Channel Islands.
