The victim, who is being supported by specialist sexual assault liaison officers, had been drinking in a nightclub with another woman and a man before heading to Victoria Crescent, off Upper Midvale Road, where the attack allegedly took place between 2 am and 2.30 am on Saturday.
The suspect was questioned yesterday at the States police HQ in Rouge Bouillon.
A 38-year-old man was also arrested at the weekend on suspicion of rape before being released pending further inquiries.
