French seek views on wind farm off south-west coast

Developers Ailes Marines have put their project on display in order to canvass views about the scheme, which was given the go-ahead by the French government in 2012.

Under the proposals, 62 eight-megawatt turbines measuring up to 216 metres above the level of the waves are due to be erected in the French sea, close to the boundary with Jersey’s territorial water.

As part of a public inquiry launched on 4 August, the French government and Ailes Marines are keen to hear the views of Island residents. The static exhibition which shows the proposals is due to run until Thursday 29 September.

And developers from Ailes Marines are due to give a talk about the scheme at Fort Regent’s Don Theatre from 7 pm on Tuesday 6 September.

Translated information about the scheme can be found at eolienoffshoresaintbrieuc.com.
