But he first found the time to give five Jersey schoolboys the surprise of their lives by stunning them with a private meeting in his Wembley Stadium office.

Harlan Moss (11) and Jonathan Trant (10), who are pupils at St George’s Preparatory Schools, audaciously applied for the vacant position of running the national football team earlier this summer, following the resignation of Roy Hodgson after Euro 2016.

The boys even outlined their backroom staff – good friends James Douglas, Felix O’Connor and Bertie Cooke, who are all aged ten.
