Opportunity for local musicians and poets

The Songwriters Society is a local hub which strives to bring together those talented in writing and performing original music, spoken word and poetry and is organising a non-profit event promising to do just that on Friday 26 August.

Talented local artists can apply for the chance to perform for an engaged audience in an intimate space at the new Lido Havre Des Pas which will be suitably decorated by more local talent in the form of Jersey’s best visual designers, prop makers and creators. Organisers are striving to give back to the community and support local talent by offering those successful applicants, who will be performing, a free drink and food on arrival, as well as a high quality video and audio recording of their performance on the night which can then be used for their own promotion.

Supporters who are ‘lovers of great music and words’ are invited to attend, at 6.00 pm, for the first of what is hoped to continue as a monthly event. Food will be for sale from the Lido kiosk until 7.00 pm when the music will begin and seating will also be available, however it is limited and on a first-come-first-served basis. It is hoped that this unique event will offer the musical community of Jersey a chance to benefit and grow, and organisers are describing it as the ‘glue’ that will bring many different creative pieces together.

More information can be found on the Facebook page Songwriters Society, and application forms can be accessed online at www.cognitoforms.com/MultitudeDigital/SongwritersSocietyRegistration.
