Power cable engineers begin French connection

Jersey Electricity, alongside a number of specialist contractors, began laying the £40 million interconnector earlier this month

The cable, which runs from Surville in Normandy, will be one of three undersea power lines which connect the Island to the French grid.

John Duquemin, chief engineer for Jersey Electricity, described the laying operation as a success and said that work would now go ahead to commission the cable.

The cable is due to be trialled in December and is expected to be fully operational by January.
