Video shows moment rescuer swept into sea

In the second clip of its kind, which shows how the States Fire and Rescue Service’s inshore craft was battered by rough seas off the Island’s south-east coast, the crew can be seen setting off from Le Hocq on Saturday night.

The video shows a wave washing one of the rescuers overboard and nearly knocking another into the sea. Within seconds the crew member is dragged several metres away before being picked up.

The rescue mission was launched after Miss Godfray was dragged out to sea while paddling at Green Island. She was found, but pronounced dead in hospital a short while later.
