Gurkhas aim to rise to Nepal school challenge

The Gurkha Welfare Trust Jersey (GWTJ) is hosting a ‘Conquer the Castle’ event to raise money for a Nepalese building project scheduled for early 2017.

From Friday 14 to Sunday 16 October, Islanders will have the chance to complete climbing circuits up and down the stairs of Mont Orgueil.

The ascent from the castle’s lower ward to the top of the keep is about 180 feet, meaning that individuals and groups can reach the summit of different ‘peaks’ depending on how many circuits they complete.

Application forms are being prepared, but anyone who is interested in joining the event can contact Mr Falle on 855117 or by emailing frfalle@yahoo.com.
