Woman was dropped upside-down on road

Matthew Donovan Norris (30), of Dicq Road, St Saviour, admitted committing the offence at 7.15 pm on 12 July near Grouville Church in Rue à Don.

The Magistrate’s Court was told by police legal adviser Lawrence O’Donnell that witnesses in a car noticed a man and woman shouting at each other and seeing the argument turn into a physical altercation.

Mr O’Donnell said that Norris was seen to pick up the woman and turn her upside down before dropping her on the street. The motorist tried to distract the defendant by beeping his car horn.

Mr O’Donnell said that the car did a U-turn and the two occupants went to help the woman. As they approached, Norris walked off, removing his top as he did so. The witnesses said that the victim had a cut to her upper lip and a graze to the lip and complained of back pain. They also told police that the woman named Norris as the assailant.
