Help on the way for families of sick children being treated in Southampton

For years the Grace Crocker Foundation has highlighted the plight of such families, saying that some Jersey parents whose children are being treated in the UK are being forced to live in cramped, uncomfortable accommodation – sometimes with numerous families to one room – just to be near their child when they are ill.

The charity has now agreed in principle with Andium Homes, which administers the States property portfolio, that they will collaborate, along with other charities as required, to purchase, lease and manage accommodation for Jersey families in Southampton on a not-for-profit basis.

Around 200 children from Jersey require treatment in the UK every year, many of them in Southampton.
