Island churches ‘alert’ in wake of French atrocity

Father Jacques Hamel was murdered by Islamic militants while he was conducting a service at his church in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray, a suburb of Rouen.

The UK police have issued a warning to Christian churches in the wake of the attacks amid fears that other places of worship may be targeted.

That warning has been passed on to Jersey’s Dean, the Very Rev Bob Key, who in turn has forwarded it to Island churches and Mr Key said that there was a need for people to be alert but that it would be ‘business as usual’.
