Last month plans were announced in the Medium Term Financial Plan Addition for businesses to start paying for waste disposal, including sewage and rubbish collection, by the start of 2018.
The new charges, if approved by the States in the autumn, are intended to raise £3 million in 2018 and £11 million the following year, as the States aims to balance its books by 2019.
Concerns have grown, however, that the new waste-disposal charge may encourage more fly-tipping in the Island as businesses may try to avoid having to pay to dump rubbish.
