Farewell Paul – Jerseyman makes EastEnders exit in shock death twist

The former Grouville School and Victoria College student, joined the cast early last year and appeared on screen for the first time in June 2015, however in April this year a representative for the show confirmed that the character was being written out of the show after a one-year stint, as part of a dramatic storyline.

In recent weeks, viewers of the primetime show, which regularly attracts TV audiences of around eight million, have seen his character Paul settling down with boyfriend Ben Mitchell, with the couple planning a future together. At the end of Friday’s episode the pair headed off for a night out together, however at the start of Monday’s episode Ben’s family were told that he had been in a fight and was in a critical condition in hospital.

The Mitchell family were later told that Ben had died and, at the end of the episode, had to identify his body. However in the final ‘duff duff’ moment it was revealed to be a case of mistaken identity, as it was in fact Paul’s body, not Ben’s.

After Monday’s episode aired, Mr Labey tweeted: ‘The love and support is UNBELIEVABLE, thank you for all your messages! Love to EVERYONE at @bbceastenders!’
