Jersey Post in deal to buy freight company

European logistics company Fraser Freight, the purchase of which is still subject to approval by the competition regulator, provides services such as express and specialist transport, air and sea freight, warehousing and the transportation of dangerous goods.

No jobs will be lost at either company as a result of the acquisition and Jersey Post chief executive Tim Brown said the deal would help Jersey Post expand its routes into Europe.

Since 2007 letter volumes dealt with by Jersey Post, which employs 380 staff, have declined by almost 60 per cent, while packet and parcel volumes have increased by almost 200 per cent year on year during that time.

No further information about the deal is currently being released.
