Could summer be on the way at last this weekend?

Following a very average spring and the dullest June since 1997, dry and settled weather is expected to become established over the Channel Islands by Friday.

And the fine and potentially warm weather, which could see temperatures rising to 24°C over the weekend, could last throughout next week.

The UK, however, is expected to see more changeable weather over the weekend, with rain likely, especially over northern areas. It will also be relatively cool, with a strong westerly wind.
